Quote about Warriors and Lances

"If an ordinary warrior's lance is ten feet long, how long must Ajax's lance be?"
-- Diderot, D'Alembert's Dream

Diderot is one of my favorite writers. Even when making a dry philosophical point about the dangers of analogical reasoning, he manages to do it with style.

  2. Ajax was always a favorite of the ladies, but had some difficulty finding armor to fit his appendage comfortably.

    2. Removed by the author? What a bummer. Now I'm going to have to badger you on Monday night to find out what you wrote that was so inappropriate you weren't willing to leave it up there...

    3. The comment had something to with the names "Lance" and "Brad" and something about which name one would want to have. But you didn't hear this from me.
