I'm Back, Baby!

Mrs. B and I just spent three and a half glorious weeks in France. We had a wonderful time, and I'll be posting some blog-relevant photos in the near future. No laptop on the trip this time; no internet; no work-related email. Just quality time with the Missus, sight seeing, good beer, good wine, good bread, and lounging about reading.

End result: boy, do I feel relaxed!

The tradeoff for avoiding work-related temptations by having no computer, of course, was no gaming or blogging. So I am looking forward to catching up on my gaming and blog reading. If in the next few days you see me leave a comment on your blog about something you posted weeks ago, that's why. :)

Re-Entry Plans
(in no particular order)

  • Catch up on blogs (started!)
  • Buy groceries (no food in the house – yes that's my stomach you hear rumbling)
  • Mow the lawn (after three weeks, it's a jungle out there)
  • Jump back into the Monday Night Ubergoobers game (missed you guys!)
  • Resume West Kingdom game posting (ditto!)
  • Get back into Stonehell game (ditto!)
  • Go through work email (done this morning after waking early from jet lag – not as bad as I thought – still relaxed)
  • Get rolling on summer research agenda (three projects, two with strict September deadlines; doable; still relaxed – though I had to take a deep breath)

    1. Thanks. This was the first *real* vacation we've taken in several years. Which I think accounts for my current relaxed state.

    1. Thanks Dan. Very kind! I'm looking forward to picking it up again in the next couple days once I get some "making-up-for-three-weeks-away" chores done.

  4. Welcome back. I went with a friend of mine to Germany (she was ultimately on her way to Strasbourg) but I never made it farther west than Bingen.

    1. Very cool! I've not spent much time in Germany -- only about a week many, many years ago. But I liked it very much.

  5. Welcome back! And about your Stonehell character, ahhhh, not sure how to say this but, he, ahh, kinda bit the dust!

I'll break out the 3d6 whenever you are ready! :)

    1. Lol: no worries -- that's the life of an adventurer :)
I just hope he went out with a bang!

In a way that kind of gives me a bit of breathing space to get myself settled back in without having to go at warp speed cramming through the three weeks of game text I missed before picking up again. My ignorance of what I missed will simply be in character for the new PC. You can break out the 3d6 any time -- I'll try and get the new PC ready in the next few days.

  6. Welcome back, hope the weather was good for you. Over in the south west it's been nothing but cold and rain and last week i was flooded in, only just picking up.
Must be glad to get back to the minis after 3 weeks!

    1. Thanks Maxamillian! Yeah, that was some crazy May weather wasn't it? We had a ton of rain, but fortunately no flooding in Strasbourg (though the rivers did get quite high up on their banks). We did finally get some sunshine and warmer temperatures toward the end of our stay. Hope the flooding wasn't *too* bad for you in the south west.

    1. Thanks Ken! It was an awesome time. Apart from the pleasure of just being back in France for a while, I think it was the first time in my entire professional life that I cut *all* contact with work -- quite a new (and agreeable) experience!
