Neighborhoods of Ravensburg: South Market

SOUTH MARKET

Overview

The South Market is one of two large market areas in Ravensburg. Most of the trade coming in to Ravensburg, due to the proximity of the Mist River Wharves south of the city proper, enters through the south gate and arrives in warehouses at the south end of the quarter.

Notable Locations

Market Square: The market square is open every day of the week. Stalls of various sorts sell local and imported produce, fish, and meats, as well as textiles and bric-a-brac. Many services are also offered, such as knife sharpening, boot repair, hair-cutting. Entertainment by jugglers, musicians and local thespians is common.

Miggins' Tea Shop: Mrs. Maggie Miggins, a respectable middle-aged woman in a floral dress and lacy apron runs this tea shop, selling tea, herbal infusions, and shop-made pastries.

Oakbottom Spirits: Otto Oakbottom is a smiling, good humored young man with a long dark pony-tail. His family has sold fine wines, ales, beers and stronger spirits from this location for generations.

Red Tankard Inn: Sadie & Sal Potbelly, the plump and jolly proprietors, create a home-like atmosphere in this small comfortable inn. Sal's cooking is so good that many believe it has healing and restorative properties.

Sweet Crescent Bakery: Gerald Sweet, a young green-eyed baker with a limp, runs this establishment. He is particularly well-known for giving exquisite new twists to traditional pastries for religious holidays.

Sylvia's Herbs: Sylvia Evergreen is an experienced elven herbalist, with white skin and even whiter hair. She trades in potion components, as well as herbs such as wolfsbane and garlic.

Warehouse Blocks: The warehouse blocks at the southern end of South Market take in all the water trade coming in to Ravensburg, as well as a significant portion of the overland trade as well. These blocks consist of row on row of warehouses, with no other residential or commercial buildings in the vicinity.

Widdershin's Goods: Halfling Willem Widdershins has sold general goods here for over 40 years. Virtually all the general gear an adventurer could want, with the exception of weapons and armor, can be acquired here.
